What motivates you to do this project?
Our motivation is deeply personal: Our daughter Lara survived leukemia and lives with a congenital heart defect. From our own experience, we know how challenging it is for a family with a sick or disabled child to find strength. With Maison du Soleil, we want to create a place where families in similar situations can find peace and feel truly welcome.
Where will Maison du Soleil be established?
We are currently searching in a quiet, nature-oriented region in France – preferably in a rural area. It is important to us that the property offers enough space for accessible guest rooms, common areas, our family, and a beautiful outdoor space.
Can I contribute or help you now?
Yes, very much so! Even though the house has not yet been purchased, we rely on donations—for example, for consultations, down payments, renovations, or furnishing.

What happens to my money?
Your contribution is directed to used only for the project’s development: purchase, renovation, accessible facilities, play and garden areas, or necessary infrastructure.
We have clearly outlined the planned expenses and stages on our website. Our aim is to build a stable, sustainable project for the long term—not just a wishful dream, but a place that truly makes a difference.
What if the project doesn’t succeed or a property can’t be secured?
With our full commitment and expertise, we approach this project carefully and in stages. Naturally, risks are involved. If the project cannot proceed due to circumstances beyond our control, we will openly inform everyone about how the funds already raised will be managed.
Our wish is to use what has already been raised to advance the inclusive mission — if necessary, in another form.
Is it possible to pre-register for a stay?
At the moment, we do not have a concrete location, so we cannot take reservations yet. However, if you’re interested in staying with us, please send us an email. We’ll add you to our interest list without obligation and notify you as soon as there’s news.
Is the project exclusively for children with disabilities, or does it also include siblings and parents?
Maison du Soleil welcomes the entire family. We believe it is essential that all members of the family have the chance to unwind — not just the child affected. That’s why we also consider play areas, retreat spaces for parents, group activities, and creative programs for siblings when designing the space.
How can I contribute if I can’t give money?

Can you provide a receipt for my donation?
Currently, we are not officially registered as a charitable organization yet. Therefore, we are currently unable to not issue donation receipts. Our team is working towards establishing the conditions needed to offer this going forward.
What does “accessible” specifically mean to you?
Accessibility, for us, is not limited to being wheelchair-accessible. We want to develop a setting that addresses diverse needs:
– accessible rooms and bathrooms
– no thresholds
– calm places to withdraw
– clear and easy-to-understand language
– navigational assistance
– lots of understanding and flexibility in daily life
Is there medical care available on site?
No, the House of the Sun is not a care home or medical center. However, in the future, we plan to cooperate with local facilities, mobile care services, and therapists, so that families can receive support if needed—even during their stay.
How many families can stay at the same time?
It will depend on the property we find. Currently, we are planning for 3 to 6 accessible guest apartments or rooms, a common area and, of course, space for us as the operating family. The size should allow for social interaction but also provide opportunities for retreat.
What will be the legal structure of the project?
Ultimately, we strive for a charitable status like a nonprofit organization or a charitable limited company (gGmbH). This approach ensures transparency, qualifies us for grants, and allows issuing donation receipts. Initially, we begin as a private project to keep operations flexible.
Can organized groups like schools or daycare centers visit as well?
Yes – in the long term, we also want our house to for inclusive children’s groups open to, for example, school classes, special education schools, or integrative institutions. However, it is important to us that the place does not become a mass operation but remains family-oriented.
